International Hiring
While the majority of our staff are people who have previously worked with us and/or were Tamarack campers, each season Tamarack hires new staff members from Canada and around the world. These staff members are an important part of camp. They bring new perspectives and enthusiasm, while exposing our campers to new people, cultures, and ideas. These new staff members enhance the camp experience for everyone.
We work closely with an organization called Camp Canada, who help us bring fantastic international staff from across the world. There is one main way that an international staff member can be eligible to work in Canada called a Closed Work Permit.
A Closed Work Permit is tied directly to your employment at Tamarack. This means that you will only be allowed to work for Camp Tamarack for the duration of the permit, unless you request permission to change the permit. Most of our staff members use this permit.
With our partnership with Camp Canada, they will help potential international staff members process and manage the work permit application process.
Some countries’ programs specify that the applicant must be a full-time student; others do not, and some have separate programs for students and non-students. The type of work allowed and the maximum duration of stay depends on the applicant’s country of residence.
