Camp Tamarack is proud to have earned the seal of the Ontario Camps Association (O.C.A.) in recognition of excellence.
Any camp seeking O.C.A. accreditation must undergo a two-year provisional period, during which time it is visited by O.C.A. representatives annually, and must meet the association’s standards before being accepted for full membership. Once a camp achieves full membership, it receives a visit every four years, or the year following a change of site, ownership or director.
Tamarack voluntarily adheres to over 400 separate standards dealing with all aspects of a camp’s operation: health & safety, leadership, food service and maintenance, staffing, programming, and administration.
Tamarack’s directors are also active members of the O.C.A. and well-respected in the camping community. Rick Howard is a past-president of the O.C.A., Ellen Howard has served on the standards committee, and Marc Cooper sits on the conference steering committee. Several Tamarack staff members attend the professional development and training sessions organized by the O.C.A. each year.
As Tamarack celebrates over 30 summers, we are strong believers in the principles of the O.C.A. and in giving campers both a safe and fun experience each and every summer.
